Music recommendation and exploring tools seems to be an emerging software market. You can trace it back to “customers who bought this also bought …” links at Amazon, to “listeners also bought…” in Itunes to some more recent projects.

If you ever played with www.pandora.com you know what’s wrong with it - too much effort needed to put in to get some usable output.

last.fm is much better tool for anyone exploring music and you don’t even have to be register to get some interesting stats and find groups that play music you’d probably like. I wouldn’t call it a revolution, but it’s pretty nifty.

Recommended.

I’ve recently tried this Apache module, and it’s just awesome. If it didn’t exist, I would be this close to attempting to write something like this myself.
